1. I saw a meme on Instagram that went like this-'The movie Dirty Dancing came out in 1987 and was set in 1963, so if remade in 2026 it would be set in 2002. Now I need a little lie down in a dark room for a while."
Time is crazy isn't it? So...what were you up to in the year 2002?
My current photo program doesn't allow me to readily retrieve many pictures from 2002. Here's one I took in 2018 that can illustrate the thought of "looking back."

2. "Me? I'm scared of everything..." What's something that scares you that you'd like to try anyway?
I have a healthy fear of a lot of things and I can't think of a one that I'd like to try.
3. Watermelon-yay or nay? Which melon is your favorite-watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew.
Cantaloupe is my favorite of these listed, but it's hard to find a good one. You just never know how tasty it is until after you've brought it home and sliced into it.
Of the watermelon food/beverages listed which would you say yes to...
watermelon salsa~watermelon feta salad~watermelon sorbet~
a watermelon Jolly Rancher~a watermelon margarita

I prefer my watermelon plain, all by itself, leaning forward to bite off a juicy wedge while the sweet juice drips on my shoes the grass. Watermelon is said to be very nutrient-dense.

4. August 12th is National Middle Child Day. Are you a middle child? If not, where do you fall in the birth order in your family of origin? Do you think this has influenced your personality? Elaborate.
I am the first born of two daughters, but I gave birth to a middle child. My husband is a middle child.
Middle children are blessed to observe the mistakes and successes of the older siblings and to make good choices for themselves.

It has been said that the first-born tends to be bossy. (They are wrong, of course. 🤭)

There is a line in the 2006 biblical movie, The Nativity Story, where the three wisemen have a lighthearted moment. While gazing at the night sky, one of them says,
“..... if I’m right.. and I usually am....”
I have quoted that to my family about myself on several occasions, but instead of agreement, I get raised eyebrows and wry smirks! 🥴
5. Would you rather talk to everyone at a crowded party for a short time, or have a significant conversation with two people? Explain.
I'm okay with attending a "sip 'n smile" (as Gary calls them) but during his career days, he had to attend too many and now avoids them if at all possible.
I get along well enough at such occasions because I make friends easily. But short conversations at those parties are preferable. It's good to keep the topics light because many times the room is much too noisy to accurately hear everything that is being said. Even my $$$ hearing aids cannot really drown out enough of the background noise to catch all that is being said.
A significant conversation with just one or two people is best done in a much quieter atmosphere, and yes, I definitely enjoy that, too.
6. Insert your own random thought here.
In 2017, when my late husband shocked me with the idea of a cross-country move from Colorado to Florida, I bought a sign that looked exactly like the arrow below. It was meant to be a rather tongue-in-cheek marquee of our late-in-life change in retirement plan.
Until next time, grace and peace.

That's a good title and then the perfect verse to end the post with. I need to print that one out and hang it up because I often need reminding of that!
I enjoyed reading your answers. I love watermelon but really don't like cantaloupe. I'm also a first born and like to tell Bob I'm always right. :)
Amen to your ending verse! Joyce gave us another fun and interesting Hodgepodge. As a first-born, I will confidently state that I a not bossy either!! My family would all be rolling their eyes!! LOL I do love watermelon dripping off chins and elbows! The best way to experience it!! Peace and hugs to you!! xo
I'm definitely craving melon after reading around today. Lots of my neighbors quilt, one teaches classes in fact, but it's not something I've ever done. I was the big sis to my little sister and I'm pretty sure I bossed her : )
You look so cute with your triangle of watermelon! Haha...“..... if I’m right.. and I usually am....” I can just see the eye rolls and smirks. Quilting in 2002, I'm sure those are cherished gifts. It is not good to get stuck and a great way to get unstuck is through God's Word, His Truth for us. Blessings and peace to you.
It is still feeling like summer here in England, we're in the middle of another mini heatwave at the moment. I wish we had AC. lol
It sounds like 2002 was a good year for you. I didn't know what a blog was back then either.
I'm not even a massive fan of watermelon but I could just eat some now after seeing your photos.
I like my watermelon just the way you do. I don't even mind the seeds, if we are outside and I can spit them. LOL> Love the final quote at the end and I need to remember it often. And your sign about not looking back is a good reminder too. I like the verse in the Bible where Jesus says, "Remember Lot's Wife". I've thought of that many times in my life when we've had to move again for one reason or another. Sometimes it's easier to remember than others. I am the baby of the family and therefore I'm not bossy at all, LOL! (That's a joke!), and my sister says I'm spoiled. She was the baby before I came along and spoiled everything for her! LOL. She's never let me forget it either. I enjoyed your post and I hope you and Gary are having a lovely day!!
I love watermelon and it's surprising how well it goes with feta cheese! I am the second of four children so me and my younger brother share middle child syndrome! I love the verse you posted at the end.
Well said on everything!
August is as hot as Hades. Yep, that statement came from Sandy’s mouth. I could take some heat index that didn’t have 3 digits!
I find those things that talk about the difference in years with one decade vs another to be interesting. I think 2002 to 2026 seems so much faster than another set of 24 years last century, I think it is a combination of age and how quickly this digital age is moving compared to the slower time of my youth,
Dear Barbara, I love all your photos. You look fantastic. I love ❤️ watermelon 🍉 😋
Ugh...August is hot as Hades, sorry, stealing Sandy's though, but it's the truth, smiles---well, truth be told, I will never know hot Hades is, but there you go. And frankly, I have had enough (sorry to be a Debbie downer, lol). I love watermelon and cantaloupe. Thank you for your kind words you left at the blog, I truly appreciate it. Waving to Gary. smiles
Peace be with you and yours. I like water melon with Feta cheese.
I like your saying about being right. Another favourite saying of mine is: "I cannot agree with you otherwise we'd both be wrong!"
God bless.
