youtube link to He's Alive |
Attached above is the link to Don Francisco singing "He's Alive," recorded (in this video) about 12 years ago on the TV show, The Gaither Homecoming Hour. Recorded for the first time many years earlier, the lyrics are taken from the biblical account of the Apostle Peter when he is in deep remorse for denying Jesus and then, 3 days later, seeing Jesus alive for the first time after His crucifixion. Click on the link above to listen to the song, if you are so inclined, and you will be glad you did.
Over the recent past my meditations have repeatedly been focused on not the lost (those who don't know Jesus as their Savior), but instead on those of us who do know Him as our Lord. In spite of our label as "Christians," we still sin. We make mistakes, use poor judgment, failing to think things over thoroughly before taking action, overlooking what begs our attention, and sometimes we blatantly do what we know we should not. We are all hypocrites at times. Yes.
Intentional sin. God forgives even that. This is perhaps what amazes me the most as I ponder Jesus' willingness to pay the price for my sins. He forgives even the intentional sins.
Here are the lyrics to the song above:
May your Easter be a time of peaceful reflections and joy. We have so much for which to be thankful. Until next time, magnify the Lord with me, let us exalt His name together. Psalm 34:3

Wishing you both a Happy Easter.
I haven't heard that song for some time. It's so good. Blessed Easter!
Thank you for sharing this video along with the words, Barbara. Have a blessed Easter.

Yes, you are right. Christians can be Christianity's worst enemies. We often set the wrong example.
Thank you and God bless.
None of us are perfect, even as saved Christians. Only Jesus is perfect. We can only pray and hope to do our best in the day to day. But stuff still happens, yes. Thankfully, we have a God bigger than us Who understands and helps us right ourselves when needed. Have a very blessed and wonderful Easter, Barbara!
In looking up some other songs this week, I came across this one. Took me back a few years. Everything you said is so true. In my Methodist Book of Common Prayer there is a prayer that I love to read that says much of what you just said. We have erred and strayed like lost sheep, we have followed to much the devices and desires of our own hearts, we have offended against thy holy laws, we have left undone the things we should have done and done those things which we should not have done, miserable offenders, etc. And of course it offers up a repentant heart. My summary of it, but it is one of my favorite prayers. Happy Easter.
Such a moving post, Barbara, I pray you had a wonderful Easter filled with fresh hope and revelations!
It is so good to serve a risen Savior who defeated death for us and is alive! Blessings.
Would you believe there was a time that I actually sang that song in church as a solo? It's been SO many years ago, but I'll never forget it, especially when it got to the part , "He's Alive! He's Alive and I'm forgiven, heaven's gates are opened wide, He's alive! He's alive, He's Alive!!!!! I had a lot more energy back then. LOL. And I had a good pianist who could play that song too! This really brought back some OLD memories for me! But what a powerful message!! Thank you for the thoughts you shared about intentional sin. Yes, we do still sin, sometimes we have to attitude of going ahead with what we want to do and ask forgiveness later...which probably isn't exactly what God had in mind for us, but He still forgives us because He loves us so much. Praise God!! He's Alive and I'm forgiven, heaven's gates are opened wide!!! Amen!!! Hallelujah!!
We sang Because He Lives on Sunday and it made me think of the Gaithers. My parents used to play their albums (going back now lol) on Sunday mornigs as we were getting ready for church and the song made me so teary, both the words and the sweetness of childhood and growing up in a home where we were taught what Easter really means. I love the song you posted. The lyrics are wonderful. I hope you had a happy Easter.
I am late visiting but trust you had a nice weekend, Barb. He is risen!!
Wonderful post. Loraine
I used to have a huge collection of the Homecoming DVDs and cds. I guess I still have the cds - but everything is digital now, you know:) Loved those vidoes of the Homecoming gatherings. Thanks for sharing a beautiful video. Hope you had a wonderful Easter weekend...and that this new week is going well!
As I read through the lyrics of He's Alive, my brain kept wanting to sing it. 😊 Also, I am reminded that my sister sang a Don Francisco song at our wedding in 1980: I Could Never Promise You. He wrote some good songs. As for the message here - thank you for this thoughtful post, Barbara.
